Sherry Vine in ADULT CONTENT
May 13 / Doors 6:30pm / Show 7:30pm
Norwhal @ Unicorn (1118 E Pike St, Seattle)
VIP $35 Adv / $40 Door
GA $25 Adv / $30 Door
This week’s Adrian Ryan Approved Event™ is the incomparable potty mouth and unhinged Chanteuse that is the one and only Miss Sherry Vine.
I first saw Sherry in action in a Valentine’s Day show at Re-Bar with Joey Arias, waaaaaay back in the late mid-nineties. I’ll never forget it (and not just because my date dumped me that night—THANKS A LUMP MARC GAUDETTE): she was six full feet of heels and hair, singing her own very special rendition of The Cranberries, “You put your finger in my sphincter! Do you have to let it linger? Do you have to, do you have to, do you have to let it linger?” A dream.
Sherry Vine is what would be spawned if Lady Bunny had illicit congress with a truck stop toilet and a bucket of gold glitter eyeshadow. (Thinner, though.) She’s performed all over the world, but her base is the drag-rich shores of NYC itself.
Sherry has freshened up her act considerably since then, of course, and kicked The Cranberries to the curb (haven’t we all?). These days she tackles the likes of GaGa and Adele with her unique parody formula, which she calls “the Three P’s–Poop, Penis, and Prostitution.”
Sherry will be unleashing her singular madness upon Seattlites tonight at The Unicorn/Narwhal, brought to us by Mama Tits and DJ LA Kendal Presents. Attendance is deeply encouraged.
Saturday, May 14
SIN CITY’s 15 Year ANNIVERSARY SEXTRAVAGANZA!
May 14 / 9PM
Imperial Theatre (319 Main St, Vancouver)
21+ Sin City is Vancouver’s longest-running, ground-breaking, bar-raising, award-winning, and most prolific fetish night. Tomorrow they’re celebrating 15 years of chips, dips, chains, whips with fetish performances from Rubberdoll, Melody Mangler, and Vertigo Rope, and music from DJs Pandemonium, R-Lex, Evilyn13, And Kasey Riot. There’s a strict fetish dress code for this one, so leave your casual separates at home, kids.
Sunday, May 15
The BIGGEST Clothing Swap in the NW (Sixth Annual)
May 15 / 11AM – 3PM
Crystal Ballroom (1332 W Burnside St, Portland)
$8 Adv / $9 Door (plus a bag of clothes)
Portland is probably the epicenter of the barter economy, and this is your chance to take advantage of it and get a whole new wardrobe. Clean out the unwanted, gently used clothes from your closet, throw them in a bag, and head on over to the Crystal Ballroom for this epic fashion swap meet. Be smart and thoughtful about what you bring though. If you’re won’t wear it because it’s dirty, stinky, and full of holes, no one else will want it either, right?
Suited: Closing night of Translations
Sunday May 15 / 7:30pm
Northwest Film Forum (1515 12th Ave, Seattle)
This Lena Duhham produced documentary, fresh from its Sundance premiere, tells the story of Bindle & Keep, a Brooklyn tailoring company that makes custom suits for gender-nonconforming and transgender clients. Don’t miss the Closing Night Party at 12th Avenue Arts immediately following the film! (1620 12th Ave.)
