One of the most pressing questions plaguing many people is dealing with finances. People worry about whether there will be any improvement during such a fiscally volatile climate, whether their dreams of stability and growth will manifest, and of course, what they may need to be aware of in the future.

Money concerns were the subject of an anonymous question this week: Will my financial situation change this year and when?

Anon, this is a fairly straightforward question, and so I used a very simple, Past, Present, and Future Spread to answer it. The third card, Future, doubles as a timing card, giving you an idea of general trends for the future.

I also included a fourth card in the layout, which gives advice for better times–in other words, how to get what you want if you’re not happy with the way things are going!

Card 1: Past Trends; The King of Pentacles

The Investor. Anon, this card tells me that, fairly recently, you may have either made some investment of money, time, or effort geared towards bringing you more prosperity. Or you may only have been contemplating financial opportunities around you. This could mean anything from looking at properties to invest in, to creating a product or business, or to simply devising a plan for upward financial mobility. The key here is that you had high hopes for a payoff down the road. The big question: Will your efforts pay off?

Card 2: The King of Cups

The Counselor. King of Cups people are very good at using their innate sense of empathy in their work. They excel at figuring out what others need, and doing or saying what’s needed to make those folks happy. Hence, we often find King of Cups people working as teachers, counselors, life coaches, psychologists, bartenders, and even, err… Tarot Readers! These people are also wonderfully expressive, and so are often found in the arts. They may also feel called into the healing profession, whether they become traditional Western style doctors or less conventional types, like massage therapists, or Reiki practitioners.

Any of the aforementioned may be directions you’re exploring at this time. One of your challenges? Being the Adult in the Room. People may come to you for your broad shoulder, for your ability to truly listen. That ability may be crucial to your efforts towards success!

Card 3: The 9 of Swords

Worries, worries, and even more worries! This card looks grim, doesn’t it? It portends sleepless nights, guilt, and shows someone who may be suffering from the relentless commentary from an Inner Critic from Hell.

The good news? Most of those worries are in your head. Don’t give in to the temptation to make everything a catastrophe! What’s actually going on in the card is that the person has, you guessed it, made a mountain out of a molehill. When this card shows up in a spread, yes, be cautious, but don’t worry. Strategize instead! Your financial prospects will go much more smoothly.

As far as timing goes, the number 9 could mean nine months, days, or weeks. The element of Air is represented by the suit of Swords, and corresponds to the signs Libra, Gemini, and Aquarius. It’s time is Spring. So, my calculation using this method is to say that you should see some movement in your finances by March or April of next year, in the early Spring. It may seem rough for a bit, but hang in there!

Card 4: Advice; Strength, reversed

Okay, a few things, here.

First, Strength reversed may be warning you to put your health first–and with the 9 of Swords in the same spread, I’d say that you need to watch your stress level, lest it lead to stress-related illnesses, or exacerbate any health issues you may already have.

Another important thing to remember is that your anger is your best friend–when it’s used as a catalyst for positive change. Go ahead, get mad, and get busy!

Lastly, you will need a lot of willpower and self-control to reach your financial goals. So if your spending has a tendency to get out of control, watch it!

Wrapping It Up

Anon, I believe that you will reach your goals if you really go for it. It won’t be easy, but it’s doable. Settle in for the long haul, and turn that molehill into a mountain… of cash, that is!
