“Be true to the game, because the game will be true to you. If you try to shortcut the game, then the game will shortcut you. If you put forth the effort, good things will be bestowed upon you. That’s truly about the game, and in some ways that’s about life too.”
– Michael Jordan
Sometimes, people just want a general picture of what’s coming up in their lives, a forecast, if you will. That was this week’s reader’s request, when asking: What can you see coming up in my life?
To that end, I used a simple Past, Present and Future Spread, with a fourth card pulled for advice. Let’s get started, shall we?
Card 1, The Past: King of Cups, reversed
Not feeling very grounded. Workaholic or playaholic, or both. Not able or willing to commit. Inconsistency.
Reader, this card tells me that you may have been working much too hard, or alternately having trouble committing to either work or a person important to you. People under the influence of the reversed King of Cups in its reversed aspect may have a lot of difficulty making up their minds about…well, just about everything. You may have been going back and forth about an issue. Because of this you may have been feeling a bit down in the dumps. There’s a tendency to fantasize about what you want, but no action is taken to achieve it.
Card 2, The Present: 4 of Pentacles
Stability and security. Wealth. On solid ground. Building a secure future. Saving for a rainy day. Knowing one’s own worth. Conservative with money or even energy.
This seems to be a time of focusing on material goals. Saving every last dime and squirreling it away is the name of the game. Likewise, being attentive to how you “spend” your energy, whether physical, mental, or emotional– is equally important. Keep up the good work!
Card 3, The Future: 6 of Cups, reversed
Either stuck in the past, or letting go of it. Releasing painful memories. Overcoming childhood programming.
Your future, Reader, is your own. You’re successfully transcending a painful past and moving towards a more fulfilling life ahead. This could manifest as the need to get past harmful or limiting past relationships, or even ideas you’ve had about who you are that you’ve outgrown. You are finally coming into your own! This could bring new people and experiences into your life, so be adventurous!
Card 4, Advice: 8 of Pentacles, reversed
Need to figure out what is worth the effort, and what is not. Prioritizing. May need to accrue more skills. Try harder.
The best strategy for you, Reader, is to build your skill set, learn as much as you can so that you can create the future you want! If that means taking a class or workshop, or studying something on your own, by all means, do it. You may need to decide what agenda is more important at this time. Think about quality of life, not just how much money you make! Put real effort into the things you value. Cultivate excellence!
Wrapping it up:
Reader, while it looks like you can expect a positive future, with new friends and new opportunities for prosperity, remember that these things require effort from you! Your future is what you make it. So, make some decisions and work hard to get what you want. A haphazard approach just won’t work.
