The Mix is back with this week’s Friday Five. From deals and drag, to brews and Jewish comedy, don’t miss these five really amazing, hand-picked events happening in the PNW this weekend.

Friday, September 16

Cucci’s Cake Batter
Friday, Sep 16 / 8pm
Papa’s Eats & Treats (2901 Perry Ave, Bremerton)
$5 GA / $10 Table Seats

Once upon a time there was a quiet, unassuming Navy boy, inside of whom lived the creepiest, craziest, most delightful drag queen to ever grace the stages of the Northwest’s hallowed booze halls. If you’ve never had the privilege of watching Cucci Binaca werk a runway, then you’re in for a trick or treat, because Cucci’s a veritable glamour demon and every time she slouches across the stage it’s Halloween.

Second Use Fall Fest
Saturday, Sep 17 / 12pm – 6pm
Second Use Building Materials (3223 6th Ave S, Seattle)

Second Use is celebrating their 22nd anniversary this weekend with their biggest event of the year. Go for the free hot dogs, but stay for the 35 incredible vendors that will offer handmade work made from upcycled materials! It’s a fantastic excuse to support local artists or get inspired. There’ll be some big sales, and you know you’ve been wanting to replace all your kitchen cupboard knobs anyway.

Judy Gold
Saturday, September 17 / 8pm
Stroum Jewish Community Center (3801 E Mercer Way, Mercer Island)

You know who Judy Gold is, don’t be ridiculous. If you’ve ever seen and/or heard of, oh, practically everything from Rosie fucking O’Donnell to the The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, you know Judy–she was even on an episode of Roseanne (as a fetus, no doubt). Judy Gold is dripping in Emmys and basking in the sweet glow of a gold-plated stand-up career. Her voice is both familiar and welcome to lovers of Midler and Streisand; Bernhardt and Silverman (but not even half so rude as Silverman can get when she’s on a roll), and it’s a voice that knows from funny. I spoke to her about her show tonight on Mercer Island, and you can read the entire thrilling conversation here. But let me assure you of this: drive, hike, run, cartwheel, ride on the back of of a camel or a bumblebee–get your sweet fanny to Mercer Island this weekend and refresh your sour soul in the sassy waters of one seriously brilliant Big Gay Shebrew. PSY//CHIC (formerly Stranger Disco)
Saturday, Sep 17 / 10pm
District East (2305 SE 9th Ave, Portland)

If there’s one thing to know about Portland nightlife, it’s that you never leave well enough alone. It’s in that spirit that the humans behind the queer music love fest formerly known as Stranger Disco are bringing you PSY//CHIC. Vera Rubin, Perfect Health, and Carly Carton are on the decks bringing you your sultry party vibes. If you’re chill or you’re looking to be, then hit up District East for your musical magic carpet ride. Haterz need not apply.

Sunday, September 18

Queers and Beers: Cider Edition
Sunday, Sep 18 / 5pm – 10pm
The Cobalt (917 Main St, Vancouver)

f you’re a fan of the brews but not of the bros, then this queer friendly East Van suds fest is perfect for you. This special edition also adds more than a dozen ciders to try on top of the 24 beers on tap, just in time to complement the crisp autumn chill in the air this weekend. As it says in the event description, “pop on your favourite plaid shirt, kick up your heels and come join us at the Cobalt for chill vibes with fellow queers.”
