The 2015 Seattle International Film Festival starts today, much to the joy of cinephiles around the Pacific Northwest. With nearly 300 films in the lineup, including almost 2 dozen LGBT-themed films, there’s more than possibly the most devoted (or obsessed) film fan can catch. Here are some recommendations, then, for those who may need some help figuring out which films to see.

54: The Director’s Cut

An ode to the decadence of the glitterball era, 54 was sanitized beyond recognition before its release. Now, 17 years later, the director has recut the film to its earlier form — retaining the original film’s moral ambiguity as well as the bisexual love triangle between Ryan Phillippe, Selma Hayek, and Seth Meyer.
