Comeback Reunion

Comeback’s 7th Anniversary back in 2011.

Down and Dirty! Can it be true?

You know that only an exceedingly rare and precious jewel of an event could drag me out of semi-retirement as Gay Seattle’s premier nightlife tell-you-what-to-do-er. But Comeback at Chop Suey is that rare and precious jewel.

Yes. That is correct. Comeback is coming back, you guys! IT’S COMING BACK!

For over a fabulous decade, with well over 100 parties under its rhinestone-studded belt, Comeback was the gold standard of sexy/sweaty/superfun monthly queer dance-stravaganzas.

It was most often headlined by its resident DJs: the world famous DJ Colby B, who flew in from her new stomping grounds in NYC for the event each month, and by DJ Mister Sister, who is none other than the legendary Seattle nightlife nonpareil, Marcus Wilson, who were joined by an impressive roster of national talent. It was the don’t-miss gay party, month-after-month.
But then one day (in September, 2012 to be exact) without warning…POOF! The party was over. Comeback vanished and left a big smoking crater in poor Gay Seattle’s aching heart.

But just a few weeks ago, the whispers began. Strange stirrings in the breeze. A disturbance in the big gay force! Then suddenly, one morning, the posters went up on light posts all over the Hill! And then this thrilling notice appeared on Facebook:

“Comeback was a groundbreaking Capitol Hill club night, one of the first indie queer dance nights that ignored the tried and true gay bar formula of exclusively playing top 40 & populist circuit-party music and fed Seattle dance enthusiasts the sounds of electro, italo, queer hip hop, house and more.

We thought it was prime time to reunite and lay it on ya!”

It is Comeback’s “Down and Dirty Reunion!” THIS IS NO DREAM, THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING.

Colby is once again flying in from New York with a long list of flashbacks to spin you right ‘round, baby, right ‘round, and Mister Sister is busting out his formidable beats. They are joined by Ozma Octavia and the wonderful weirdnesses of Seattle’s risingist drag star, Cucci Binaca!

Exclamation points!!!

I can say with a pure and open heart that this is truly an Adrian Ryan Approved Event–and how many of THOSE are there these days? I ask you.

Saturday, April 30th; 9pm; $5 before 11pm; Chop Suey; 21+.
