Tyler Rush: Pup, Geek, and Porn Star
If you’ve spent any time out and about in Seattle’s bar scene, or on one of a number of shared blogs and Tumblr sites, you’ve likely seen a striking, fit fellow wearing very little clothing. Too vague? He’s just as likely to be out wearing a sexy version of your favorite video game character’s costume, particularly at the Seattle Eagle’s popular Insert Coin parties which he co-hosts with DJ Krot. He’s also a fan of human puppy attire, as in a leather harness, a pup mask, and a strategically-placed tail.
I’m talking about Tyler Rush, also known as Pup Amp, a busy fellow with ties to a few different communities: geek, kink, and porn.
Tyler may not look like what some people see as the stereotypical geek, but his geek cred is totally legitimate.
“I grew up eating, breathing and living within my own animated world,” he explained. “I loved the Japanese culture as a kid and grew to an even bigger nerd, reading manga, watching anime. After I taught myself to sew, I attended anime/game conventions and dressed up in costume, or cosplay as it is so deemed.”
With a long history of being an anime fan, it’s no surprise that he has a lot of anime on his favorites list.
“I always loved Naruto, One Piece, DBZ, Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors and so on,” he shares. “As for video games: Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and most other RPG and fantasy crossovers always had my eye. Finally for movies and books, I loved the basics: Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, but more recently I’ve been getting into Wizards First Rule, the book series Legend of the Seeker was based off of.”
Tyler doesn’t just look pretty in his costumes, he also takes an active hand in their construction.
“Back in high school I learned the basics from a seamstress, got a hand-me-down sewing machine, would choose a costume and sit down sewing until I finished it,” he explains. “I was a very passionate cosplayer, with a large group of equally passionate friends who kept me driven and creatively inspired!”
He achieved some early notoriety for his cosplay work at the conventions he attended. But it was when he crossed over into cosplay themed dancing that his popularity skyrocketed.
“When I was younger, I was always very well-known for my Beat Daisukenojo from The World Ends with You,” he says. “However, as a dancer and entertainer, my Sexy Ezio costume was a huge hit. Within the first month of posting on Tumblr, it racked up over 30,000 notes.”
Tyler’s costuming skills are a big benefit for his kink work as well. They are a benefit for other kinksters, too. He takes commission work making gear for other human pups and leather fans.
“I make general fetish gear for puppies,” he shares. “ I take orders for leg harnesses, pocket squares, collars, armbands and wristbands of all sorts, sizes and colors, many of which have paws or bones sewn to them. I believe you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to have nice gear that represents your kinks or lifestyle!”
How do his kinky and geeky sides get along? Tyler feels there’s a lot of crossover.
“I have always believed that kinky and nerdy run very parallel in the sex world, be it Renaissance fair or anime convention. I mean, if I had a dollar for every time there was a group of leather men at a bar drinking, tying up boys and talking about Star Trek, I’d have a few dollars.”

Tyler’s kinks led him both to modeling and adult film work. You may have seen him in the Mr. S Leather catalog online or possibly in some film shoots.
“Adult videos, porn work, modeling or whatever you call it came about due to my involvement in the kink community,” he says. “I was approached by a friend of mine who directed for Colt Studio at a kink event in Chicago called IML (International Mr. Leather). We worked on some scenes and it was all just downhill from there. I created a Twitter account for Tyler, started networking, meeting people and seeing where it would take me. Since then, I’ve shot about 20 scenes this year and have more scheduled for the future.”
His favorite video projects so far are with BoundJocks, where his excitement for his work is palpable.
“I LOVE me some good, fun bondage” he exclaims.
He’s clearly hit a sweet spot for geeky, kinky crossover, since he has a ton of upcoming projects.
“So much is happening in the next two months I can’t even keep it straight myself,” he admits. “April is full of bar events and gear production, making orders for all the pups who have asked for some gear; similarly two scenes with BoundJocks will also be out. May is going to be a huge month, though. I’ll be assisting with a big puppy auction and show in New York as the emcee in early May, followed by a Kink.com scene, followed immediately by IML, where I’m up for an award and will be working for Mr. S, and finally finishing off the month with a scene or three with Titan out in Palm Springs. Needless to say, if you don’t hear from me in May, that’s probably a good thing!”
